Ilchi Lee believes that health is intimately connected to knowledge, because it's important to be aware of one's own health when it comes to both mind and body. Awareness of others and the world can greatly help a person's mood and life quality.
The 1997 hit novel Tuesdays With Morrie communicates this theme, showing that health is much more than just a physical state. The book is written by newspaper columnist Mitch Albom, and documents his conversations with his 79-year-old sociology professor Morrie Schwartz.
Schwartz is afflicted with Lou Gehrig's disease and he wants to share many of his viewpoints on the world, from love to health to values and happiness. He emphasizes the fact that media is preoccupied with violence, death and hatred, but people can transcend those traits if they simply learn to be compassionate toward one another.
Thus far, more than 11 million copies of Tuesdays With Morrie have been sold worldwide. It was the number one book on The New York Times Non-Fiction Bestsellers of 2000. It was also turned into a TV movie in 1999 and taught in classrooms throughout the country.
