Alternative treatments may alleviate unexplained pain symptoms

In recent decades, medical advances have helped push forward humanity's understanding of the human body and how it is affected by diseases. However, many aspects of health remain unexplained by conventional medicine, which may push some individuals to seek alternative methods.

For example, a team of researchers from the University of Exeter recently pointed at that as many as one in five patients who seek care have symptoms that doctors cannot explain. However, the team conducted a study that found that many of these individuals may benefit from acupuncture treatment.

The team administered acupuncture treatments to a group of patients with unexplained musculoskeletal problems, and compared the results to individuals with similar symptoms who were given standard care. The findings showed that those in the acupuncture group experienced much greater improvements in their symptoms, compared to those receiving standard care.

The results of the study confirm Ilchi Lee's health philosophy, and suggest that standard Western medicine may not always have all the answers. Seeking out alternative therapies may benefit many individuals.
